For the white project I took a picture of my pair of Converse, a piece of copy paper and a Scott Towel roll. The first picture was a little dull and almost grey without the full extent of the light. The second picture is of the same objects with a higher volume of light. I think my camera picked up the sharpness and the clarity of the image, which in turn enhanced the whiteness.
